WORK has begun on a $2.5m expansion at Spring Lake Metro Shopping Centre at Springfield Lakes with the promise of more retail outlets and an improved dining out experience.
Property manager Steve Berry from Pinnacle Sales and Management said the upgrade was about freshening up the centre and filling a gap in the community.
“We believe there is a shortage of retail and services facilities in the area and we aim to provide more of these services to the community,” Mr Berry said.
“We are looking for retailers, food and beverage, dining, medical and allied services however we would welcome all enquiries for the site.”
As well as refreshing the centre’s facade, theĀ upgrade will add an extra 1300 square metres of retail space.
Spring Lake Metro currently has 10,500 square metres of lettable area including 2,500 square metres of retail space.

“Customers can expect a higher quality retail and service offering and a different shopping experience than currently available at surrounding centres,” Mr Berry said.
“The building works have now begun and should be completed toward the end of the year.”
Mr Berry said local centres such as Spring Lake Metro continued to play an important role in the community.
“I believe local centres like Spring Lake Metro will continue to have an appeal to the local neighbourhood as they offer easy access and a community orientated feel where residents can utilise local services as well as meet up and spend time together in a unique shopping and dining precinct that’s close to home.”
The current upgrade is just the beginning with significant investment expected to be put into the centre in the next three years.
“We aim to provide more medical, services, retail and other facilities to the centre,” he said.
Stores at the centre will continue to trade as normal during the upgrade.
