Developers of an Ipswich shopping centre have outlined their vision to deliver a centre they say will be unlike any other in the region.
Developer JM Kelly Group and development partner DMA Partners have secured approval for the stage one retail component of Yamanto Town Centre – Yamanto Central.
Yamanto Central will be a 20,000 square metre shopping, dining and lifestyle precinct which will be the first stage of a new fully integrated shopping and entertainment destination.
JM Kelly Group general manager Vicki Leavy said it would redefine the sub-regional shopping centre concept by combining entertainment and lifestyle features most often associated with bigger retail centres with the fresh food approach of local neighbourhood centres.
Yamanta Central will have a full-line Coles supermarket and discount department store giant Kmart.
As well, there will be a 1,750 square metre Market Hall and an indoor/outdoor restaurant and dining precinct. It will have about 950 free car parks.
“Yamanto Central is in no way a standard retail project. It is really pushing the envelope on what you’d traditionally expect from this type of sub-regional centre, both in terms of the retail offering and the centre design,” Ms Leavy said.
“The vision for Yamanto Central is to create a whole new classification of retail centre, one that takes the very best lifestyle and design elements of the super-regional centres and combines them with the convenience and community-focus of a smaller centre.
“There is nothing else like this in the wider Ipswich area and as such we believe Yamanto Central will become a major lifestyle drawcard for many young families now making a home in the local catchment and beyond.”
Yamanto Central is at the intersection of Warwick Road and Pisasale Drive, Yamanto.
Announcements on when construction of the centre will begin are expected shortly.
