An exciting line-up of family-friendly entertainment will help Ipswich residents farewell 2019 and mark the start of a new decade at this year’s New Year’s Eve in Ipswich celebration.
The New Year’s Eve in Ipswich celebration will be at Len Johnson Oval at North Ipswich Reserve, 43 The Terrace, North Ipswich.
Gates open at 5pm, with the event finishing at 9.30pm.
Free amusement rides, face-painting and a wide range of food stalls are planned. As previously announced, there will be no fireworks at this year’s event.
This year’s entertainment line-up features a Sesame Street Character Show, Angry Birds Character Show, Goldie the Clown and Redtie Band.
Interim Administrator Greg Chemello said just like the rest of this year’s council-supported festive season activities, the focus was firmly on families for the New Year’s Eve celebration.
“News Year’s Eve in Ipswich is the final event on our Christmas in Ipswich program and it’s all about families,” he said.
Last year’s New Year’s Eve in Ipswich celebration was a big success.
“The celebration kicks off nice and early to give families, particularly those with young children, an opportunity to come together for a fun evening to celebrate the New Year.”
A range of food stalls have been booked for the event including Paella Magic, Roamin’ Pizza, Titanic Snow Cones, The Donut Guy, High Class Burgers and Bimm’s BBQ Chargrill.
There is no onsite parking available at the venue. Parking is available in surrounding streets, with carpooling suggested.
A road closure will be in place from 3.30pm to midnight the day of the event for The Terrace, North Ipswich between Pine Street and Lamington Parade. Access for residents will be maintained via Lowry Street, North Ipswich.
New Year’s Eve in Ipswich is a smoke free, alcohol and glass-free event with bags checked on entry. No dogs allowed.
