A seafood restaurant and a car wash are the latest new businesses to sign on the Nicholas Street Precinct, bringing new opportunity to the city heart.
Ipswich City Council Economic and Cultural Development Committee Chairperson Councillor Pye Augustine said since May, council had approved six new leases, and two new businesses had now finalised the paperwork and were getting ready to move in.
“I’m thrilled to see such a vote of confidence in the Nicholas Street Precinct, and delighted to welcome Kickin’Inn, a premium seafood restaurant with a difference,” Cr Augustine said.
“Kickin’Inn will take up residence on Nicholas Street, in between Stellarossa and Bottle Alley, bringing fresh seafood and street side dining to Ipswich’s city heart.
“I’m also thrilled to welcome Sparkles Car Wash to the Nicholas Street Precinct car park on Bremer Street.
“Visitors to the precinct will soon be able to drop off their car, take a stroll through the city heart and have a bite to eat before collecting their sparkling car from the car park.
“Residents can expect to see more activity in the Precinct in the coming months as these businesses prepare for fit-out and get ready to open their doors.
“With Hotel Commonwealth nearing its opening date under the management of AusHotels, and HOYTS also preparing their fit-out, it’s an incredibly exciting time in the Nicholas Street Precinct.”
The new leases will move in alongside current tenants Gelatissimo, Sushi Hyo, Zambrero, Bun Bun Bao, Terry White, Sofia Nails, Austhetica, That Dumpling Place, Stellarossa, Opens Minds, Hoyts and General Public, as well as VE Group, Indie School, and the Red Cross.
Cr Augustine said council was pleased to continue working with leasing agency Colliers, with more than 80 per cent of commercial space across the Precinct now leased.
“Council’s vision of a city heart that is vibrant, engaging, and attractive, driving jobs, economic benefit and community spirit into the Ipswich city centre is coming to fruition, and I look forward to the final steps in coming months,” Cr Augustine said.
