Do you know an extraordinary person living in Ipswich that deserves recognition?

It’s not too late to nominate them for the 2024 Ipswich Australia Day Awards.

Nominations close 5 November 2023.

Ipswich City Council Community, Culture, Sports and Arts Committee Chairperson Councillor Andrew Fechner said the Ipswich Australia Day Awards are an important way for the community to recognise the achievements and contributions of those making a positive difference in Ipswich.

“Ipswich is full of local legends who contribute to a better Ipswich and by recognising their contributions, we can inspire others to be the best they can be,” Cr Fechner said.

“Strong communities are built by those who work to connect and help others, those who inspire us and achieve great things big and small.

“Ipswich City Council understands the important contribution our local heroes make and while they don’t do it for recognition, it’s important we celebrate those individuals and groups that are helping to build a better Ipswich.

“Nominations are open to everyone, whether it’s a community group that goes above and beyond, a devoted volunteer or someone who excels in their field, they can all be nominated.”

The 2024 Ipswich Australia Day Award categories are:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Senior Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Cultural Award
  • Sport and Recreation Award
  • Community Group of the Year
