Splash into Australia Day with council’s free pool fun

An Ipswich tradition returns this Australia Day, with families and residents able to splash out for free from 10am to 4pm on January 26 at all Ipswich City Council-owned pools.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said there’s no better way to celebrate everything about our community then at one of council’s fantastic pool facilities.

“What better way to cool down this Australia Day then in true Ipswich style,” Mayor Harding said.

“Since 1997 it has been an Ipswich City Council tradition to hold Australia Day celebrations at council-owned pools.

“Over the years the free pool Australia Day fun has become a favourite among residents, and I’m excited to let families know that the tradition will continue this year.

“But it’s going to be a warm one, so don’t forget to slip on a shirt, slop on some sunscreen, slap on a hat, seek shade and slide on some sunnies this Australia Day.”

While the pools will be free to enter, residents are reminded to be COVID-19 safe and that numbers may be capped on the day to manage COVID risk.

Free entry applies at the following Ipswich City Council-owned swim centres: Bundamba Swim Centre, Goodna Aquatic Centre, Rosewood Aquatic Centre and Georgie Conway Leichhardt Community Swim Centre.
