A new guide strategically aimed at attracting thousands more visitors to Ipswich has now been launched.
Ipswich City Council Chief Executive Officer Sonia Cooper said council’s Ipswich Visitor Guide has expanded to 68 pages in 2024 and features the best tourism and leisure experiences across the region.
“This magazine-style guide continues to put Ipswich’s best foot forward, highlighting the major attractions which bring more than 1.5 million visitors to our wonderful city every year,” Ms Cooper said.
“We have printed 40,000 copies of the 2024 edition and these will be distributed shortly.”
Latest data from Tourism Research Australia shows that the tourism industry is worth $280 million to the Ipswich economy each year.
“We have so many amazing things to do and places to go in Ipswich, and we obviously want to get our tourism message out to the widest audience,” Ms Cooper said.
“Ipswich punches above its weight when it comes to tourism. We have a lot of fantastic things to see and do in Ipswich.
“When visiting Ipswich, people have a diverse range of activities to experience. Visitors can feed and pet llamas, hike to the top of one of the tallest mountain peaks in the region, indulge in luxurious experiences like hot air balloon flights and gourmet picnics, or stay in charming country retreats.
“Bringing more people here for day trips and overnight stays is one of the guide’s top aims.”
This year’s edition features the historic Woodlands of Marburg property on the front cover, continuing the strong focus on encouraging overnight stays, which has been a key pillar of recent editions.
Inside the guide, readers can find locals offering their favourite things to see and do in the city, as well as itineraries, places to eat and the best natural landscapes to visit. There’s also country activities and adventures to discover.
Guides will be distributed to 200 cafes and accommodation providers throughout Ipswich, Brisbane, Toowoomba and the Gold Coast, as well as visitor information centres throughout Queensland and northern New South Wales.
Copies of the guide are available at the Ipswich Visitor Information Centre in Queens Park. It can also be read online, or a hard copy ordered, by visiting www.discoveripswich.com.au/magazine
