Historian Jack Sim is bringing back his ghost tours to the Ipswich Cemetery just in time for some school holiday fun.
Mr Sim will run three Ipswich cemetery tours over Friday June 26 and Saturday June 27 for families and ghost fans to learn some ghostly history.
The tours coincide with the 140th anniversary of the infamous Kelly Gang shootout at Glenrowan on June 28 in 1880 which saw the capture and subsequent execution of Ned Kelly later that same year.
Each tour will feature historic sites including the grave of Dan Kelly, who is believed to have escaped from Ann Jones’ burning hotel at Glenrowan in 1880 and making his way to Queensland with fellow gang member Steve Hart.
Dan Kelly lived for many years around Brisbane, Ipswich and Fairney View near Fernvale and died at the end of Wharf St in Ipswich in July 1948 when he was walking along the railway line at night.
He was decapitated by a passing coal train. His remains are buried at the Ipswich Cemetery.
While spots are full for the tour on Saturday June 27 at 7.30pm, Brisbane Ghost Tours have added two new walking tours to the line up.
You can still book into a tour on Friday June 26 at 7.30pm and a new twilight option which is suited to families and children on Saturday June 27 at 5.30pm.
