New Division 4 Councillor David Martin sworn in

New Ipswich City Council Division 4 Councillor David Martin has officially been sworn in after the Electoral Commission of Queensland declared the result of the divisional by-election.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding welcomed Cr Martin at the swearing-in ceremony conducted at council’s administration building at 1 Nicholas Street on Tuesday night.

“I congratulate Cr David Martin, who was elected in the Ipswich City Council Division 4 by-election held on 26 October to replace former councillor David Cullen,” Mayor Harding said.

“I look forward to David taking office, joining our hard-working council team, and working with him on behalf of the entire Ipswich community.”

Cr Martin was previously elected to council in October 2017 when a by-election was needed after then-Division 7 Councillor Andrew Antoniolli was elected Mayor of Ipswich.

Cr Martin said he was excited to be back in council and joining fellow Councillor Jim Madden representing Division 4.

“I’m truly humbled to be declared as Division 4 Councillor and I’d like to acknowledge my wife and supporters for all you have done. I am truly very thankful for all your support,” Cr Martin said.

“I trust I will not let you down and will serve the people of Ipswich with honour and dignity.

“I look forward to representing the people of Division 4 and right across Ipswich. I want to see unity in council, all of us on the same page, and working towards the best outcomes for our great city.

“Together, let’s make Ipswich a city we are all proud to call home.”

Cr Martin said he was looking forward to his first round of committee meetings on Thursday 14 November, followed by the Ordinary Council Meeting on Thursday 28 November.
