Great Houses of Ipswich

The National Trust, through its Ipswich Branch and in partnership with the owners of three Great Houses, is very proud to help open the doors to just a few of the outstanding heritage residences.

On 12 May 2018 three privately owned heritage homes will open to the public.

COST: Free entry to National Trust members and students and $5 per person per property for other visitors. Children and students are free. There are no bookings.

Marburg Show

Head out to Marburg and enjoy a country show.

WHEN: 8am – 8pm

COST: Adults $15 Pensioners $12. Children under 11 Free.

MusiQue Concert of Country Rock

Country Rock came into its own in the 1970s, with such American bands as the Doobie Brothers and The Eagles leading the way. Emmylou Harris was crowned the “Queen of country-rock” and female artists like Linda Ronstadt and Dolly Parton helped to establish the genre as a household favourite which has endured to this day.

MusiQue Concert for Country Rock is bringing this style of music to Ipswich. Queensland singers and musicians will deliver a fabulous show for lovers of country rock.

A Private Collection

Belonging to an astute private collector, this uniquely personal collection of Australian art was assembled over a 60 year period. The collection gathers together over 130 works and has a particular focus on Queensland artists. Artist featured include William Bustard, Robert Campbell, Julian Ashton, Lionel Lindsay and Charles Lancaster.

Learn 3D: Design and Print

This three week course will teach you the basics in 3D design using an online tool, Tinkercad. Start to create your own unique design, explore similar designs online and mix them into your own. Prepare your 3D desgined object for printing and have a chance to design in Virtual Reality using Google Blocks.


Basic computer skills are required.

Queensland Drag Racing Championships

The Queensland Drag Racing Championships brings racers from across the state to compete for the prestigious QDRC Trophy and Track Champion status at Willowbank Raceway, delivering high-octane action for racers and spectators. More info here.

AMIGURUMI DRAGON WORKSHOP

Join an epic adventure and create your own mythical dragon. All materials supplied. learn how to crochet in the round seamlessly, invisible decrease, sew pieces together and add armature wire. This is a two-day course starting May 12 and finishing May 19. Bookings essential. Book here.

Powercruise 1 Day Powerplay

Car enthusiasts will get their pride and joy out of the garage for this one day celebration of motorsport. This is a family friendly event which will include a range of activities such as burnout competitions, off street racing, cruising sessions and drifting sessions, among others.

parkrun

parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. All ages and abilities can go along and run the 5km course. Please register before your first run. Bring a printed copy of your barcode so you can get your time. You are also welcome to grab a coffee in a local cafe with the parkrunners afterwards.

View some of the finest pieces from the Ipswich Art Gallery’s collection of 19th and early 20th century fine art and folk art, as well as contemporary works reflecting Ipswich’s heritage.

Ipswich Artists: works from the Collection

See the diversity and skill of local Ipswich artists in this display featuring works that have been acquired for the Ipswich Art Gallery Collection.

Artists featured are Gary Abkin, Tim Acutt, Chenaya Bancroft-Davis, Annie Clarke, Donna Davis, Charmaine Davis, Mieke den Otter, Colleen Gardener, Angela Geertsma, Sally Harrison, Lizzett Kim, Wayne McDonnell, Sharon McKenzie, Deb Mostert, Kate Roberts, Andrew Spark and Helen Vere. Many of the pieces displayed have been acquired through the Ipswich Art Awards over the past 15 years and are shown in conjunction with this year’s Ipswich Festival.
