Letters to Santa returns to Ipswich Libraries

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding and Economic and Cultural Development Committee Chairperson Cr Pye Augustine help write letters to Santa at the Ipswich Children's Library.

Ipswich Libraries and UB’s Milk Bar Ipswich are helping Santa’s workshop this year, as the Letters to Santa postal service opens once again from Tuesday 19 November to Wednesday 11 December.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said Letters to Santa is a free fun drop-in activity for the whole family, presented by Ipswich Libraries as part of the Christmas in Ipswich program.

“Santa is welcoming letters from children of all ages and he’s ready to hear if you’ve been naughty or nice this year,” Mayor Harding said.

“With the help of their parents and carers, children can head into the nearest Ipswich Libraries branch to collect their free letter-writing stationery and write their wish-list.

“The stationery comes complete with a letter template and an envelope to make sure it reaches Santa and Mrs Claus.

“Once the letter is ready, drop it into the big red ‘Letters to Santa – North Pole Express Mail’ box on your next visit to the library, or visit UB’s Milk Bar Ipswich at 126 Brisbane Street. Santa’s elves will send a magical response directly to your home.”

Economic and Cultural Development Committee Chairperson Councillor Pye Augustine said Ipswich Libraries is expecting to post sacks of letters to the North Pole.

“Ipswich children have loved writing letters to Santa, with thousands being sent through North Pole Express Mail in previous years,” Cr Augustine said.

“Santa Claus and his team of elves will be working away to reply to all letters and wish-lists, so keep a lookout in your home mailbox for that special envelope.

“Due to roofing repairs, Rosewood Library will be closed from Monday 11 November to Sunday 8 December, and North Pole Express Mail won’t be operating from there.

“The nearest library is the Ipswich Central Library or Ipswich Children’s Library, so make a day out of it and check out the newest attractions in Nicholas Street Precinct while you’re here.”

Please note letters will only be posted to addresses within Queensland.
