Ipswich’s best Christmas carols and community events this festive season

It is beginning to sound a lot like Christmas with community carols singing out across the city over the next few weeks as part of the city-wide Christmas in Ipswich program of events and activities.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said there are many opportunities for residents and visitors to celebrate Christmas in full voice at fun and family-orientated carol events this festive season.

“Families can easily come together to sing festive tunes and Christmas carols with great events in Brassall, Chuwar, Springfield Central, Redbank Plains and South Ripley,” Mayor Harding said.

“Our city’s towering Christmas tree in d’Arcy Doyle Place is also a must see when its lights are switched on at 6.45pm, Friday 25 November.”

Mayor Harding ‘lighting’ the city’s Christmas Tree.

Community, Culture, Arts and Sports Committee Chairperson Councillor Andrew Fechner said there are more than two-dozen free and low-cost events for the Ipswich community to come together in goodwill.

“Free community events include Cruise The Night Christmas at Willowbank, Ulysses Club Annual Ipswich Toy Run, Marburg Christmas Carnival, Off The Wall Christmas Exhibition at the Ipswich Art Gallery and more over the coming weeks in the lead up to Christmas and festive celebrations,” Cr Fechner said.

“There really is something for everyone in Ipswich this Christmas and I encourage you to check the online program to help plan your family’s festive outings and celebrations.”

Mayor Harding said families can farewell 2022 locally at fireworks and all-ages New Year’s Eve events across the region.

“Our citywide celebrations will culminate with spectacular fireworks displays in Springfield Central, South Ripley, Ipswich Central and Chuwar to blast Ipswich into the new year,” Mayor Harding said.
