Ipswich to welcome the New Year with a bang

As the countdown to a new year begins, Ipswich is gearing up for a memorable New Year's Eve celebration.

Ipswich skies will dance with light on New Year’s Eve as residents gather to welcome 2025 at family-friendly celebrations.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the city will be treated to spectacular fireworks displays in Springfield Central, South Ripley, Ipswich Central, Chuwar and Goodna.

“Our citywide Christmas in Ipswich program will come to a magnificent close as we ring in 2025,” Mayor Harding said.

“Gather your families and friends and look up to the skies at 9pm as our city farewells 2024 with a stunning fireworks display, launching from four locations.

“The fireworks locations are conveniently positioned within each division, so residents can view them on site, from their backyards, in a nearby park or open space.”

Economic and Cultural Development Committee Chairperson Councillor Pye Augustine said families can count down to the New Year at the Tivoli Drive-In’s New Year’s Eve Festival, with free entry.

“Ipswich families are in for plenty of festive fun as they Celebrate ’25 at Tivoli Drive-In,” Cr Augustine said.

“It will be an exciting day with live entertainment, market stalls and food trucks before the fantastic fireworks finale to welcome the New Year.

“The Tivoli Drive-In New Years Eve celebration has become a cherished family event for many residents. I’m proud that council has sponsored the event with Tivoli Social Enterprises receiving $15,000.

“There are even more ways to celebrate throughout the city, with retro live music, karaoke parties and tribute shows continuing into the early hours of 2025.”
