Ipswich Sports Awards return serve for 2024

The Ipswich Sports Awards are returning in 2024 to highlight and honour the outstanding accomplishments and dedication of our enthusiastic local sporting champions.

 

Ipswich City Council Community and Sport Committee Chairperson Councillor Jacob Madsen said these prestigious awards honour athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers of all ages who have excelled in their respective fields between 1 July, 2023 and 30 June, 2024.

“Nominations are open now with the opportunity for the community to put forward those who have shown exceptional dedication and passion in their sporting pursuits,” Cr Madsen said.

“The Ipswich Sports Awards celebrate those who participate in sport across our city and those who make that participation possible.

“Council is proud to host the 2024 Ipswich Sports Awards, which continues our support of sport across the city that includes more than 60 council sporting facilities that accommodate more than 150 clubs and organisations.

“From promising young talents to seasoned veterans who continue to inspire, the Ipswich Sports Awards will highlight the spectrum of achievement in our sporting community.

The awards program includes:

  • Coach of the Year
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Team of the Year
  • Official of the Year
  • Sporting Organisation of the Year
  • Masters’ Sportsperson of the Year
  • Junior Sportsperson of the Year
  • and Senior Sportsperson of the Year.

Cr Madsen said the awards have an important place in recognising the excellence of Ipswich locals across a wide variety of sports.

“We look forward to receiving nominations from a wide variety of backgrounds so we can honour the performances of Ipswich’s sporting achievers,” he said.

For more information and to nominate go to Ipswich.qld.gov.au and nominate by Sunday 11 August. Winners will be announced at the 2024 Ipswich Sports Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 6 November.
