Construction zones and beauty salons might not go hand-in-hand.
But for Ipswich hairdressers Tess Claris and Teresa Le Lievre-Essex it is the nature of the beast while the CBD redevelopment goes on around their store Voice Hair and Beauty.
They have braved the build and it is business as usual for the pair, with jackhammers and concrete trucks their background sound.
Ms Claris said she and her business partner were feeling excited about the future of the Nicholas St redevelopment.
“We’re very positive that once all the building and construction is finished that it will be fantastic,” Ms Claris said.
“Our clients are great. They keep coming back to us even though it’s a bit of a mission to get here with all the construction fencing in place.”
Ms Claris and Ms Le Lievre-Essex aid they always strive to give their clients their desired results while maintaining high standards of health for hair and beauty services.
One of the keys to success for the Voice Hair and Beauty team is their savvy use of Facebook as a marketing and promotional tool.
Numerous clients post selfies of their new ‘dos, in-salon before and after snaps to showcase their work and Ms Claris and Ms Le Lievre-Essex regularly post special offers and deals.
The salon opened in its current Ipswich mall location in December 2016.
The name was chosen because the owners are passionate about really listening to their clients’ wants and needs.
The salon offers an extensive range of services and products, with some of the most current and fashion-forward trends available.
From the latest mermaid and unicorn hair colour trends, to style cuts for the whole family, lash extensions, a full suite of beauty services, massage and much more, Tess and Teresa say that they always strive to give their customers exactly what they want.
Ms Le Lievre-Essex, who is managing director of beauty, has more than 15 years of experience as a beauty therapist and said she was passionate about using massage relaxation techniques to help her clients to feel their best.
Hair colour trends we all need to know about
- Mermaid hair: the client’s hair lightened and then recoloured with vibrant rainbow shades of pink, green, blue, purple
- Unicorn hair: similar to mermaid hair but tends more towards the pastel end of the colour spectrum with a number of soft shades used together to create the effect of a unicorn’s mane.
- Balayage: a technique for applying colour that gives hair a more natural looking, ‘sun kissed’ appearance by using gradual colouration effects
- Ombre: a style that adds a natural looking ‘shadow’ effect to the hair as it graduates from darker near the roots to lighter at the ends.
