It’s time to clean out the spare room or under the house as Ipswich City Council’s large item kerbside collection is just around the corner.
The popular, free service will start on 17 January 2022 and will roll through different Ipswich suburbs for one week, each week.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said council was pleased to be able to offer this popular service to residents.
“We know our community highly values this suburb-by-suburb service with 2,611 tonnes of household waste collected from 32,974 households during the last kerbside collection in 2019,” Mayor Harding said.
“This year will be even bigger with the collection service running for 20 weeks across all the suburbs of Ipswich passing about 86,603 households.
“Check the schedule on council’s website to see when we will be in your suburb and ensure you don’t put items out no more than a week before the date of collection.”
Residents will receive a flyer in the letterbox two weeks prior to the start of the service in their suburb so there is adequate time to start gathering unwanted things.
Environment and Sustainability Committee Chair Councillor Russell Milligan said this free service is provided by council to make sure all residents can remove large waste items from their homes.
“This collection service is important to our community as some residents cannot get to the tip or have the ability to carry large items,” Cr Milligan said.
“This free service ensures everyone is able to dispose of large items appropriately.
“Make sure you read the guidelines on what is an acceptable item to put on the footpath as only acceptable items will be collected.”
