With only four weeks until the 2018 Goodna Jacaranda Festival, Ipswich First takes a look at this year’s line-up.

The historic jacaranda trees on Goodna’s Brisbane Terrace have started to bloom and the entertainment is locked in.

It’s a combination that could only mean one thing – the annual Goodna Jacaranda Festival is almost here.

This year’s event is just four weeks away and is on from 26 to 28 October at Evan Marginson Park.

Beginning on Friday evening and continuing across the weekend, the free festival will showcase the region’s diversity, promote performers from Ipswich and beyond and have plenty of food and entertainment for families.

Here is a taste of some of the performers set to take to the festival stage this year:

Barefoot Brass

This 12-piece contemporary stage band formed in 2014. Since then it has proven itself to be adaptable, performing a diverse range of music from an atmospheric power ballad by Coldplay to the funky grooves of Stevie Wonder. Barefoot Brass will be familiar to many festival fans, having performed at Battle of the Bands in Springfield, the South Burnett Wine and Food Festival at Kingaroy and the Brisbane Big Band Festival.

Chandler Jay

At only 14 years of age, Chandler Jay is one of Brisbane’s finest young contemporary pop music artists. Not only is he an accomplished singer, but he is also an extremely talented pianist and songwriter. Chandler has written 17 original songs and he has already received two songwriting accomplishments with his songs Music Is Me and I’m Original. Most weekends he can be found busking at Southbank Parklands, farmers markets, shopping centres or various festivals.

Felicity Kircher

At just 13 Felicity Kircher is already a multi-award winning up and coming country music artist. She has fast established herself on the country music circuit. Not only an accomplished singer, Felicity is also a multi-instrumentalist who plays violin, guitar, piano, ukelele and mandolin. She has performed annually in Tamworth and at the Gympie Muster since she was very young and has had her own show at Brisbane’s EKKA since age 9.

Cool Coda

Cool Coda is no stranger to the community festival scene and has amassed a reputation as one of Brisbane’s best Classic Rock bands. They are known for playing an exciting mix of songs. Their set list includes songs by the Angels, Australian Crawl, Beatles, Crowded House, Hoodoo Gurus and more.

Gerry Joe Weise Blues Band

Gerry Joe Weise has established himself as a blues rock musician of international acclaim. The guitarist, singer and songwriter, who was born in Sydney,  has performed throughout the world with legendary artists such as Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Ray Charles, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Albert Collins, Noel Redding, and Juma Sultan among others.
