February 23: Cocktail Hour with Magda Szubanski

Cocktail Hour is a premium event free to Ipswich Libraries members (+ 1 guest). This is where we share inspirational stories that challenge our preconceptions and views of the world and celebrate the achievements of a range of diverse speakers.

Tonight’s speaker is multi-award winning comedian, actor and writer Magda Szubanski. She is one of Australia’s most versatile, critically acclaimed and popular comedy performers. From university revues to Babe, Kath & Kim and beyond, Magda has captured public imagination.

Magda’s multi-award winning autobiography, Reckoning: a memoir, was released in 2015. This honest and poignant telling of her journey of self-discovery has resonated with many across the community.

Ipswich Races

This week, the races move to a Friday. Ipswich Turf Club offers a wide range of options for race-goers, from general entry through to more lavish corporate-style packages which include lunch and beverages.

Springfield Markets

It’s market day at Springfield. Hop on down to Robelle Domain Parklands for an afternoon treat, browse through local talented artists and crafters, shop for homewares and enjoy dinner with family and friends from food trucks and multicultural stalls.

Railway Swimming Club

Railway Swimming Club is a family friendly club run by volunteers. Races are for kickboard swimmers through to Seniors.

WHEN: Friday nights at 7pm

WHERE: Georgie Conway Swim Centre, Toongarra Road, Leichhardt

COST: Pool entry free with membership. Membership fee is $50 for the six month season

GYS YOUTH BBQ

The Goodna Youth Service exists to empower young people in their communities, to maximize their potential in the face of the barriers or challenges to positive living.

WHEN: Friday afternoons 3.30pm – 4.30pm

WHERE: GYS Office, 11 William Street, Goodna

COST: Free

Eighty8 Hip Hop

End the working week with a bang with hip ho classes for beginners. Fun, easy and cheap. Open to all levels of dance and to those with no experience at all. Taught by one of New Zealand’s finest dancers so you will definitely be promised a great session week after week.

19th & 20th Century Works

View some of the finest pieces from the Ipswich Art Gallery’s collection of 19th and early 20th century fine art and folk art, as well as contemporary works reflecting Ipswich’s heritage.
