Ipswich City Council will once again support one of the region’s signature events as a sponsor of the 2025 Ipswich Show when it returns from Friday 16 May to Sunday 18 May.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said council endorsed a $35,000 sponsorship for the three-day event at its February Council Ordinary Meeting.
“The Ipswich Show is an iconic yearly event that has stood the test of time, with this year’s 152nd Ipswich Show providing an opportunity for residents new and old to come together and celebrate the unique, vibrant and growing community we call home,” Mayor Harding said.
“The tradition of showcasing local skills at the Ipswich Show is often passed down through generations, creating a bridge between the past and present, and also often between city and country. I encourage everyone to have a go and enter one of the Show’s competitions.
“There’s something for everyone at the Ipswich Show, whether it’s learning about our region’s agricultural industry, exploring the Exhibition Hall’s arts, crafts, and produce on show, enjoying the Animal Boulevard or the ever-popular Side Show Alley.
“Council has been a consistent supporter of the Ipswich Show for many years and has proudly contributed to its development, growth, and longevity.”
Economic and Cultural Development Committee Chairperson Councillor Pye Augustine said the Ipswich Show provides citywide economic, cultural and social benefits.
“The Ipswich Show provides opportunities for community participation and social inclusion, while nurturing local talent and creatives, strengthening local businesses and developing learning opportunities for volunteers,” Cr Augustine said.
“An impact study in 2021 showed an economic return for the city of $888,656 from the Ipswich Show, which is a considerable injection into our economy over just three days.
“I’m particularly pleased that in 2024, almost half of all stallholders at the Ipswich Show were local businesses or community organisations, with 30 local performers and artists showcasing their talents at the event.”
Division 3 Councillor Andrew Antoniolli said preparations for the show were full steam ahead, with several exciting activities planned for visitors.
“The whole community looks forward to the show every year and for good reason – it brings the city and country elements of our great region together,” Cr Antoniolli said.
“This year, all the classics return including woodchopping competitions, chainsaw racing, livestock exhibitions and show jumpers, as well as some new and exciting activities.”
Division 3 Councillor Marnie Doyle said the show attracts visitors to Division 3 each year from near and far, loyal patrons and first timers alike.
“The show is in its 152nd iteration but it never gets old because it continues to innovate and find a place in the community’s heart,” Cr Doyle said.
“This year I’m excited for the local school and community performances as well as the exhibitions in the Historical Precinct, the Animal Precinct and the Trade Pavilion.”
