Council closures over Christmas and New Year

Several Ipswich City Council services will go on a short break over the Christmas and New Year period, with essential services including the council’s emergency call centre unchanged.

Ipswich City Council Acting Chief Executive Officer Matt Smith said the break would not impact residents significantly but would provide council staff with an opportunity to rest, recover and come back with renewed energy to serve the community.

“This break will give our staff the opportunity to spend time with their families and loved ones over the Christmas and New Year period,” Mr Smith said.

“For emergencies, council’s emergency call centre will continue to operate 24 hours a day via the customer service number, (07) 3810 6666.

“On behalf of Ipswich City Council, I wish every Ipswich resident a safe and merry Christmas and a happy New Year.”
