Ipswich City Council and the current operators of the Queens Park Café are working towards a new five-year lease arrangement.
Council’s Governance Committee last week recommended the Queens Park Café lease and operation to run from 1 March 2019 to 28 February 2024. Council this week endorsed its CEO to finalise negotiations.
Council and the current operators of the Queens Park Café (Franchise Engineering Suppliers Pty Ltd) are currently finalising that lease arrangement.
Works, Parks and Recreation Chief Operating Officer Bryce Hines said council undertook a request for a tender process seeking submissions from experienced café operators to lease and operate the popular spot.
“The recommended tenderer is the current operator. The offer was more consistent with what we believe to be the value of the operation, following an independent valuation,” he said.
Mr Hines said it was pleasing to see a conclusion was imminent and it will achieve a great outcome for the community.
