Challenge puts innovation teams at forefront of Broncos fan engagement

The Brisbane Broncos are partnering Ipswich City Council in an attempt to offer fans a world-first interactive rugby league experience.

At the first #BroncosHack, the best technical minds in the business will be set a challenge – to design the ultimate fan experience.

Teams of innovators are being encouraged to enter the #BroncosHack challenge on March 8-10. The reward for the winner is an open air box for 10 people to see the Broncos up against the Dragons on March 28, plus $500 towards catering on the night.

The day is being funded under Advanced Queensland’s Advancing Regional Innovation Program (ARIP).

Ipswich City Council CEO David Farmer said: “We can’t give too much away. The details of the challenge will be revealed at the start of the event, but what I can say is that this is a great opportunity for the city’s innovation precinct – incorporating Fire Station 101 – to show how far it’s come in its short lifespan.

“One of the aims of the first #BroncosHack is to make a sizeable imprint on how the game of rugby league is enjoyed by live spectators.

“Whatever the outcome, there is potential for some of the best brains in our part of the world to create world-first technology which literally changes the game for its adoring audience.

“The NRMA Insurance Broncos are the biggest brand in rugby league, so we’re as proud as we are excited to partner them in this serious business venture.”

Broncos CEO Paul White said #BroncosHack was a chance to challenge the sharp thinkers of Queensland to develop a way which might help further enhance the level of engagement with club supporters.

“We’re hoping to have a great year on the field,” Mr White said.

“But as a club, we’re also very proud of the immense amount of work we do off the field to make the game great for players, officials and spectators.

“We are really keen to see what the teams at #BroncosHack manage to come up with.”
