The Ipswich Arts Awards are back again for 2023, providing a spotlight for aspiring and recognised Ipswich artists across a diverse range of categories ranging from traditional acrylic and oil to new media.
Community, Culture, Arts and Sport Committee Chairperson Councillor Andrew Fechner said the Ipswich Arts Awards are a great opportunity for artists to gain recognition and showcase their work.
“These awards acknowledge and celebrate the talented and passionate artists across our city who capture, inspire and reflect our diverse lives and environment,” Cr Fechner said.
“The arts are indispensable to our community, enriching our lives while inspiring a more curious and thoughtful Ipswich.
“Council is proud to again host the annual Ipswich Arts Awards in 2023, which continues our support of the arts and creative industries across the city.
“Winners in each category will receive $1,500 prize money, while the winner of Best of Show will win $3,000.”
The foremost visual arts awards for the Ipswich region, the Ipswich Art Awards celebrates and acknowledges emerging and established artists.
Held annually since 2000 and attracting over 1,500 visitors each year, entries are open now to be a part of the exhibition.
2023 Ipswich Arts Award categories are:
- Painting – acrylic and oil
- Painting – watercolour
- Three dimension (including sculpture and textiles)
- Mixed media
- New media
- Print making
- Drawing and pastels
- Photography
- People’s Choice
Entries close Tuesday 7 March 2023.
Winners will be announced at the Opening Night which will be held on Friday 26 May 2023 on Level 1, 1 Nicholas Street, Tulmur Place, Ipswich.
The Exhibition will then also be open to the public from 10am to 3pm daily 27 May to 3 June 2023 at 1 Nicholas Street.
